Mailman Salary Influencers

Reports indicate disparate values depending on the country in question. Determinant factors are largely similar, with few exceptions, both of which are detailed below.

1. Industry

In the US, a direct compare and contrast between a postal worker and a serviceman such as a UPS driver, UPS Driver Salary shows that the driver earns on average $20,000 more than their public sector counterparts (not to be confused with UPS heavy tractor trailer drivers, who earn about $10,000 more).
Conversely, differences in salaries by state vary only minimally, with most postal workers earning nearly equal annually to their counterparts in any given state.
Bonuses for mailmen are typically unlisted on most data collection sites, while bonuses for private sector jobs such as UPS are listed, but typically only for management positions, not equivalent mailman positions such as delivery drivers.

The number of mailmen job openings in the UK is also rising slightly. The same goes for Australia. In Switzerland and Norway job prospects are positive, though the number of openings is not increasing at the same rate as in the other countries mentioned.

Conclusion

Overall, the benefits, bonuses and job outlook for a postal worker worldwide are appealing. However, these can vary greatly when contrasting a country like the UK to Switzerland, or comparatively little, such as the US and Canadian differences. The mailman salary for most will begin at a comfortable average with benefits included.
